Olea europaea Universal (‘Universalnaya’) originates from the Nikita Botanic Garden in Ukraine and is highly regarded for its large fruit and rich oil yield. Successful fruiting typically requires cross-pollination with a different olive cultivar. In coastal British Columbia, it thrives in sheltered spots with excellent drainage, benefiting from mulching and protection during cold spells. Outside these areas, it serves well as an attractive container plant or greenhouse specimen, requiring ample heat and sunlight throughout the summer months.
