Helleborus x hybridus

Hybrid hellebores, also known as hybrid Lenten or winter roses, are robust, clump-forming perennials reaching 12-15” in height. They display single, cup-shaped flowers around 2-3” in diameter, typically with five overlapping sepals, though double-flowered varieties exist. Their blooms appear in a diverse palette—including white, pink, red, purple, and yellow—with occasional internal spotting. Flowering begins in mid to late winter and continues into early spring. These flowers emerge atop branched stems surrounded by evergreen, dark green foliage composed of glossy, leathery, deeply lobed, and sometimes toothed leaflets shaped lanceolate to elliptic.
