Acer palmatum 'Shojo' (Japanese Maple)

Acer palmatum 'Shojo' is a fantastic red, hardy cultivar with Matsumurae leaves. Its deep, almost black colour distinguishes it from Shojo Nomura, which has a medium red hue. It retains its colour well with some shade. The leaves are slender and long, forming a symmetrical star pattern. This tree is not dense, giving it an open appearance as it branches outward rather than upward. Its name means "red-faced monkey" or "orangutan," with Shojo symbolizing red.
