Carex lyngbyei, commonly known as Lyngbye's Sedge, is a perennial, grass-like plant typically found in coastal wetland environments. It forms dense clumps with sturdy, leaf-like stems reaching up to 3 feet in height. The foliage is a rich green, while each stem is encased in a fine, white woolly sheath. Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer, featuring nodding spikes of brownish-golden seed clusters that mature rapidly into small black seeds. Valued for its resilience to wet and saline conditions, Lyngbye's Sedge is frequently employed in naturalized settings for shoreline stabilization, screening, and populating shallow aquatic zones.
